The original Inn has stood on this site since the 13th century when it was a dormitory for the Abbey, for passing pilgrims. It became a Coaching Inn in the mid 16th Century having its own forge until 1855 when the last mail coach ran through Cerne, having been a hostelry with three coaches per day calling in for change of horses and refreshments for passengers. The 8 bedrooms are all en-suite, each having colour television, tea and coffee making facilities and are all well appointed. There are 4 double rooms, 1 single room and 3 family rooms. 5 of the rooms are situated on the first floor with a residents entrance accessible 24 hours, and 3 ground floors rooms with easier access.
